Could the unusual outbreak of monkeypox in non-endemic countries be linked in some way to COVID-19 vaccination?

COVID-19 and monkeypox are very different diseases caused by distinct viruses. There is no evidence to suggest that the monkeypox outbreak is in any way related to COVID-19 vaccination. It is however possible that the numerous lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic created a different ecosystem for disease spread, facilitating the context for abnormal patterns in some diseases. The routes of transmission of the monkeypox outbreak are being further investigated, and, so far, any link with COVID-19 or COVID-19 vaccination has been discarded.
