WHO supports a flexible approach to using different WHO Emergency Use Listed COVID-19 vaccine products for subsequent doses (heterologous schedule), and considers a total of 2 doses of any combination of EUL COVID-19 vaccines (e.g. 1 dose of one COVID-19 vaccine and 1 dose of another COVID-19 vaccine) to be a complete primary series.

In most cases a person will be offered the same COVID-19 vaccine for both doses of the primary series and a booster shot. However, if the same vaccine is unavailable, WHO recommends that another available EUL COVID-19 vaccine be administered, because timely protection is extremely important.

Using a different vaccine product for the booster dose is recommended, in particular for people who received the first two doses of an inactivated vaccine.

All vaccines used in Ukraine have been granted Emergency Use Listing by WHO.
